Scruffts 2010

Scruffts WinnerScruffts is the UK's largest competition exclusively for crossbreed dogs, attracting over 1,000 entries every year.

We are really delighted to be supporting Scruffts, which so many people and their dogs look forward to every year. In our view, a happy healthy dog needs to be fed the best to perform the best – and we’re looking forward to meeting all the contenders this year. Visits the Scruffts website for further competition details and previous winners.

The competition provides great fun for dog owners as well as the opportunity to experience the excitement of competing.

There are four fun dog classes to enter:

Most Handsome Crossbreed Dog 6 months – 7 years

Prettiest Crossbreed Bitch 6 months – 7 years

Child’s Best Friend 6 months – 12 years (handled by a young person between 6 and 16 years of age inclusively)

Golden Oldie 8 years plus

Judging

Judges take into account the importance of dog training and responsible dog ownership, and will judge the entrants on good character, health and temperament. Rosettes are awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions in each class, and each dog that receives a 1st place is eligible to compete in the final at Discover Dogs, which will take place at the event in November 2010 at Earls Court, London.

How to enter

There’s no need to register or enter in advance; just simply turn up on the day at any of the heats listed and you too could dazzle the judges. Entry to each class is just £1 and all the money raised goes to the Kennel Club Charitable Trust to help ‘make a difference for dogs’.

Dogs for the Disabled gets Wellbeloved support

Here at James Wellbeloved, we've always been so impressed by the work that Dogs for the Disabled does, so it gives us great pleasure to announce that we will be partnering with them.

The partnership - announced at DFS Crufts 2010 - will enable Dogs for the Disabled to create greater awareness of its work, and Dogs for the Disabled puppies, dogs in training and fully qualified assistance dogs will now enjoy a naturally healthy James Wellbeloved diet.

One of the UK's most life-changing charities, Dogs for the Disabled trains assistance dogs to help children and adults with disabilites lead fuller, more independent lives.  For some, this means physical help around the house and when out and about, while for others, such as children with autism, it means providing an ever-reliable canine friend to help make sense of a confusing world. Each dog is trained individually to meet its owner's needs, so that it becomes a true partner in life.

To find out more, visit the Dogs for the Disabled website.
